- The 32bit bus of the 040 is the problem. Unlike the 030 it cannot adapt
- to 16bit or 8bit peripherals or memory itself but needs an external
- multiplexer. This external logic slows down cycles. However, modern
- gate arrays are fast enough for the A3000/A4000 motherboard. But the
- A3640, being an ancient design, uses PALs and discrete driver chips.
